Protected Cultivation of Horticultural Crops in Uttarakhand: An Economic Analysis

In recent times, with the globalization of markets, shrinking land and climate change, food basket diversification, increase in demand for nutrient-rich food, protected cultivation high-value crops (HVCs) have assumed a pivotal role augmenting higher crop productivity profitability enhancing nutritional security growing population. this context, study was undertaken to analyze impact horticultural districts Almora Dehradun Uttarakhand state. It mainly based on primary data obtained through survey focus group discussion 96 farmers practicing by using well-structured pre-tested questionnaire. economic analysis, project analysis tools were used assess feasibility cultivation. The clearly demonstrated that vegetables flowers under is highly profitable enterprise. However, findings indicated subsidy scheme needs be continued encourage maximum adopt need encouraged form producers organizations (FPOs), which would help them seeking better quality inputs negotiating power market realize returns their farm produce.
